If I am stash diving and have two different yarn brands, both dk but different yardage. How should I do my swatch?

I love seeing all the different titles! I am working on a couple classics - one by Shakespeare that I just finished (the Scottish play), and I’m just getting ready to start Jane Eyre. There is a great regional theatre company that my sister and I have been going to for years and these are two of the plays we get to see. And no… while I can knit while watching TV, you really can’t knit while watching Shakespeare!

I find the "somewhat stretchy" method is working best for me on this project so I am very pleased!!

Hi Laura, first, I really hope you bring out your DK version of the Novus sweater soon. I recently bought a sweater quantity of DK yarn thinking I’d try an adult sized Novus after knitting your Baby Novus and then discovered none of the patterns are for that weight. Second, books, I just finished The Rachel Incident, which is set in Ireland so that might be a good choice right now. Also, James by Percival Everett, was a very thought-provoking read.

Just an aside. You mention that you’re a loose knitter (me, too). How do you come up with the needle sizes listed in your patterns?

"The Wives" by Simone Gorrindo. It's a memoir about the culture of the wives left behind when their husbands go off to war. Also "Becoming Madam Secretary", historical fiction by Stephanie Dray about Frances Perkins, the first female cabinet secretary under FDR.

I’ve been knitting for like almost 30 years and ummm i’ve rarely if ever made a gauge swatch. 🙈 i’ve never really understood how to do a gauge swatch tbh and i always want to immediately dive (pun) into a project. but your explanation was truly helpful. i do have a question, since i got the 8 minis, i imagine it is very important to do a gauge swatch, right? i’ve gotten away with not making swatches because 80-90% of the time if i follow your patterns to the T, I find the perfect fit. can i get away with it again? lol 😆 Can’t wait for the MKAL! 🐙🐙🐙

I read all the time, but recently have been revisiting books I read a long time ago. Some are free on Audible with your your membership and some aren’t. I recently listened to all the Elizabeth Peters books. She also wrote as Barbara Michaels. I love all her books. You can’t go wrong with any of them.

The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson. I thought it had the same vibe as The Frozen River by Arirl Lawhon.

I'm listening to 'A Darker Shade of Magic' trilogy by V.E. Schwab again. (According to my library I read it every 2 years.) I love all the books I've read by her so far. And I like the other books by Gregory Maguire (who wrote 'Wicked.') 'Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister' is my favorite so far.

“She Said” by Jodi Kantor & Megan Twohey was very good, it’s about the Weinstein Investigations. “Stiff” by Mary Roach I’ve listened to for the 3rd time now which is about the “strange lives our bodies have postmortem”. Oh & “Clay & Bones” by Lisa G. Bailey is about what it’s like to be a forensic artist, especially as a woman in a boys club. Sorry I mostly read science type stuff & horror/mystery 🤷🏼‍♀️

Hi, Laura! I am almost finished with No Two Persons by Erica Bauermeister. It's a beautiful story about one book and its impact on nine readers. Her story structure is fascinating and drew me in from the first paragraph.
